COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Live Updates:

As our communities continue to feel the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families affected.

We want to connect directly with our patients to share the steps we are taking at Virginia Vision Therapy Center to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our patients and our staff.

Vision Therapy Patients

·         Upon arrival, all parents and patients will be asked to wait in their cars. Our Manassas, Fredericksburg, and Winchester therapists will greet patients at their cars. In Springfield, we ask parents to escort their child to the 2nd floor hallway, maintaining 6 feet distance between other patients.  In all offices, the therapist will confirm the patient has no fever, cough, shortness of breath, or known exposure to anyone with COVID-19. Non-touch thermometers will be used for all patients. Anyone with a fever over 100.4 degrees will be asked to reschedule their appointment, and cannot return to the office for 14 days. We are asking all parents/family members to remain in their cars for the duration of the therapy session. In our Springfield office, parents will be given a time to return to the hallway to pick up their child.

·         All patients will be asked to remove their shoes upon entering the office, and wear a face mask and gloves. If the patient does not have a face mask or gloves, our office can provide these items for you (limit one per session while supplies last). Patients with a latex allergy can opt to wash/sanitize their hands before and after the therapy session.  Our therapist will sign the patient in for the day’s visit.

·         Upon completion of a session, the therapist will escort the patient back to their car with an update for parents, and to answer any questions.

Appointments With The Doctor

·         Upon arrival, the patient and parent(s) must check in with our admin staff to confirm the patient has no fever, cough, shortness of breath, or known exposure to anyone with COVID-19. Non-touch thermometers will be used for patients/parents, and anyone with a fever over 100.4 degrees will be asked to reschedule their appointment (minimum 14 days later).

·         Any applicable paperwork MUST be filled out ahead of time and faxed or emailed to our admin staff, or submitted online. Paper copies will not be accepted or given out in office.

·         Both the patient and either one or both parents can be in the office for doctor exams (max 3 people). We ask that siblings and other family members remain at home during doctor exams, to limit our head counts in office. If more than 3 people arrive for a doctor’s appointment, you may be asked to reschedule.

·         All patients and parents will be asked to wear a face mask upon entering the office. Patients will also need to wear gloves. If you do not have a face mask or gloves, our office can provide these items for you (limit one per person while supplies last). Patients with a latex allergy can opt to wash/sanitize their hands before and after the appointment.

·         All receipts, prescriptions, reports, and additional paper documents will be sent electronically to avoid in-person contact.

Additional Precautions

·         All VVTC therapy staff, doctors, and doctor assistants will be wearing face masks and optional face shields, with either gloves or additional hand sanitizing between patients.  All admin staff will be wearing face masks and sanitizing hands frequently throughout the day.

·         0All VVTC staff will have temperatures taken upon arrival for work. Any staff member with a temperature over 100.4 degrees will be sent home to monitor symptoms. If fever or other signs of illness persist, staff will be required to see a medical professional for testing, and are allowed to return to work once cleared by the doctor.

·         All VVTC staff will maintain social distancing (at least 6 feet) during patient/parent interaction, where possible.

·         All equipment, supplies, and shared surfaces will be cleaned and sterilized between patients (including vision therapy, Syntonics, testing equipment, doctor’s exam chair and optical supplies).

·         Our playroom will remain closed.

·         To minimize contact, we ask all parents and siblings to wait in their cars during therapy sessions so as to avoid exposure in our reception areas.

·         All receipts, prescriptions, reports, and additional paper documents will be sent electronically to avoid in-person contact.

·         Additional deep cleanings of all offices will occur multiple times each month.
